What is a roll-off dumpster?

A roll-off dumpster is a metal, rectangular-shaped, open top trash bin used to contain tons of many forms of waste. The container is designed to be transported by special roll-off trucks.

Each of our roll-off containers has a swinging door on the end for easier disposal of waste. We also offer roll-off containers that are not open top and are used with commercial or industrial trash compactors.

All materials collected in our roll-off dumpsters are taken to a state-approved landfill or recycling facility.

What are the sizes of the roll-off dumpsters and what size do I need?

Follow the links below for available sizes and common uses by service:

How much will the roll-off containers hold?

You can put as much material (excluding dirt, masonry, and concrete) as desired in your dumpster as long as the material does not exceed the rim of the dumpster. Each dumpster rental will have an agreed upon tonnage limit. Any weight exceeding the tonnage limit will be charged to you after pick-up.

All customers disposing of/recycling masonry, roofing materials and dirt must only fill 3/4 of their container.

Please note:
Depending on the density of the material you put in your dumpster the weight will vary. Rain and snow will affect the density. We advise you to place a tarp over your container if this is a concern.

What is a ton?

A ton is 2000 pounds (Ex. a small car weighs about 2500 pounds).

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. We are closed on Sunday. You may call after business hours and leave a message and we will promptly respond during normal business hours.

What materials are not allowed in the dumpsters?

We can not accept the following materials:

  • Paint
  • Oil
  • Gasoline
  • Propane (or other highly flammable chemicals)
  • Tires
  • Batteries
  • Hazardous Waste
  • Dead Animals
  • Toxic Materials
  • Biohazard Materials
  • Asbestos
  • Freon

Do you have an option to haul and dispose of heavy materials such as concrete, brick, block, dirt and asphalt or roofing shingles at a cheaper rate? If so, can these materials be mixed?

Yes.

Concrete, brick, block, dirt and asphalt materials are recycled. Concrete, brick, block and dirt can be mixed. Asphalt shingles cannot be mixed if customers would like to receive the discounted rate. Customers can only fill 3/4 of container when disposing of these heavy materials.

Our 20 cubic yard dumpster is the only size container available for the following materials: concrete, brick, block, dirt and shingles.

Discounts for roofing containers only apply to clean asphalt shingles. Wood, clay, and slate roof shingles do not qualify for this discount.

How soon can you deliver my dumpster?

We request at least a 24-48 hour notice for dumpster deliveries. On certain occasions, we may be able to deliver on a shorter notice.

Do you give an exact delivery time for a dumpster?

Due to factors that are out of our control (i.e. traffic, weather, landfill delays) we cannot give an exact time for delivery or pick-up of a dumpster. EWT Industries will always do our best to deliver your container at a time that’s most convenient for you. We normally give our customers a 4-hour window.

Do I need to be present when my dumpster arrives?

Not at all. Just inform dispatch where you would like your container to be placed, and our driver will honor your placement instructions.

How long can I keep my roll-off dumpster?

You’re free to keep the container as long as you need. However, there is a rental charge that is assessed after 10 days.

Do I need to schedule the removal of my dumpster?

We will not automatically schedule your dumpster pickup after your rental period ends.

In order to avoid hauling away a dumpster that is still in use, we ask that you call and schedule a pickup once you’ve finished loading your container.

Where do you take the materials in my roll-off dumpster after its picked up?

It depends.

Based on the materials that you are disposing of/recycling, your container will be taken to either a N.C. state-approved landfill or recycling facility.

Containers from LEED certified projects, as well as those containing clean metal, cardboard, wood, concrete, bricks (and other recyclables) will be shipped to the proper recycling facility.

Materials that can’t be reused will be disposed of in landfills.

What does my flat rate dumpster quote include?

Everything. That means delivery, haul, and disposal up to an agreed upon tonnage limit.

How can I make a payment?

We offer a variety of payment options for your roll-off dumpster rental. They include cash, money order, debit, or credit card.

All debit or credit card payments are due once you order your dumpster. Cash and money orders are collected upon delivery of your container.

Do you deliver roll-off dumpsters to my area?

We deliver dumpsters to the following areas:

  • Durham County – Durham, Rougemont, Bahama
  • Orange County – Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough
  • Granville County –  Butner, Creedmoor
  • Wake County – Raleigh, Knightdale, Garner, Apex, Cary, Morrisville, RTP, Wake Forest

Why am I not allowed to mix landscaping debris with other materials?

North Carolina state law prohibits yard waste from being disposed of in municipal solid waste landfills. Therefore, yard waste must be managed separately from other types of waste.

For Your Business

Does your company haul for LEED-certified projects?

Yes.

EWT Industries adheres to the green building best practices of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) as they relate to implementing waste management plans that divert as many recyclable materials from the waste stream as possible.

Our sustainable waste management methods aligned with the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System.

What is LEED?

LEED is an internationally recognized program that provides a framework for developing high performance, sustainable buildings. The goal of the framework is to promote design, construction, operations and maintenance of buildings and neighborhoods that save energy, use fewer resources, reduce pollution, and contribute to healthier environments for their occupants and the community.

The LEED Rating System and Construction Waste Management

The LEED Rating System consists of requirements that must be met in order for projects to achieve LEED certification. The rating system is divided into credit categories. In each category, there are prerequisites that projects can earn. The amount of points earned determines a project’s level of LEED certification.

One of the main credit categories is Materials and Resources credits. In order to earn points in this category – in addition to using sustainable materials – debris from construction, demolition, packaging and land clearing must be diverted from landfills. Reusable materials must be redirected to the appropriate sites.

EWT Industries has successfully performed for many LEED certified projects in the Triangle area. We prepare recycling reports, free of charge, as proof of LEED compliance. These reports are prepared and delivered (upon request) on a monthly or quarterly basis or at the completion of your project.

It’s our priority to help you achieve your LEED recycling compliance goals. By partnering with EWT Industries you will greatly reduce your company’s environmental footprint.
